Taste of Chicago opens today with headliner CeeLo Green: Entry gates and the music

This summer’s Taste of Chicago opens Friday with a headlining music set by rapper CeeLo Green and continues through Sunday in Grant Park, with day-capping concerts by regional Mexican music trio Yahritza y Su Esencia and Australian alt-rockets Atlas Genius.

The 2024 edition of Taste of Chicago runs 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sept. 6-8 in Buckingham Fountain Plaza, put on by Chicago’s Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events in coordination with the Illinois Restaurant Association, which manages food operations. Entrance gates are Jackson Drive and Columbus, Balbo Drive and Columbus, and on Ida B. Wells east of Michigan Avenue. All gates have magnetic scanners and a bag check.

Concerts will be presented on the Taste Main Stage and the Goose Island Stage. Chicago Made, a DCASE project to support emerging Chicago artists, hosts many of the performers on the Goose Island Stage, and the weekend also includes events by SummerDance.

Admission, as always, is free and there are no food tickets again this year. Expect 39 food vendors in Grant Park, plus 17 food trucks, and all will accept cash and/or credit.
